There are so many aspects of this projected development which just aren’t being made public knowledge. If the bulk of the new hospital is along Point Finger Road, then the view from the nurses residence (at water catch) could still be garden like ... But so many things they say in the meetings seem like “smoke screens” to me, someone knows what the long-term plan is but they aren’t willing to show their cards.

I like the idea of MAUI location, but so many medical places on Point Finger Road (Dr. Fulton always nipping down to check out pregnant ladies), dialysis, PALS, etc. that it would be hard to have the hospital itself move so far away. There is also the problem of access from MAUI down to South Shore Road – I had thought a new road could be cut from south shore (up from West of gas station to back of MAUI) but someone told me that whole “forest” is soon to be CONDOS! MAUI is surrounded by very congested residential areas with narrow winding roads, if you can figure a road network (allowing for buses) then it would be perfect!

Col. Burch sounds like he might have let the cat out of the bag ... Build the new hospital on BG, new nurses residence on water catch - tear down old hospital/old nurses residence and build new psychiatric hospital there ... One BIG medical center! Then you’d have all that land at MAUI for development ... Low cost housing ... Condos ... Wish they would consider a “retirement community” for us aging B’dians who can’t afford to go to Florida.
